The proctored final exam and some courses have specific device requirements besides just a device with a good internet connection. See below for those requirements.
A proctored final exam for all courses requires a device that meets the following minimum technical requirements.
Besides a device with a good internet connection, see below for course-specific requirements.
IT course: Your laptop or PC must be able to use a remote desktop client of some kind.
Data Analytics course: You must use Windows or Mac. Neither Linux nor a Chromebook will work since you will need to be able to download and install the desktop versions of Excel, Tableau, pgAdmin, and Anaconda Python. The free version of Tableau used in the course is Tableau Public. The only software that is not free is the desktop version of Excel. You will need Excel version 2021 or later. There is also a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription available. The free online-only version of Excel is missing some necessary features.
Software Development courses: You can use Windows, Mac, or Linux. A Chromebook will not work.
DevOps: If you're running Windows, the instructor recommends installing WSL (Windows subsystems for Linux) which allows you to run both. If you're running on a Mac, you must use a tool called Lima for running containers.
UIUX course: Any computer will work.
All other courses: Activities, besides the proctored exam, can be done on most internet-connected devices. If you were able to take the free introduction course using the device then the paid course will also work.
Once you complete the course you will need a phone for interviews.
